What is your view about this picture
It says a lot about organisation culture

I guess a new champion climbing the corporate lather has to see it differently
Indeed mindsets have to change

If I met with the President of Malawi

I have awaken from the slumber,
I guess my inactivity has also incited inertia in my dear friends.
Let me do my part and see how I can urge you all to action.

Today I met with ALBERT. Albert has worked for the government for 16 years teaching accounting at the Malawi College of accountancy, he rose through the ranks and became the principal of MCA. After serving his term as a principal he is now serving on the advisory board of KPMG Malawi. I met Albert over lunch and as we chat, I collected a lot of wisdom from him.

Albert struck me as a rare character in Malawi, he is not mediocre. He has a clear focus in life and he is future oriented. He is concerned with leaving a legacy for the people of Malawi. He is proud to have produced a lot of Malawi’s accountants. Needless to say that Albert is very passionate about education and he thinks that educating the nation is the best legacy that the present generation could ever hand over to posterity.

Albert’s life has struck me and it is giving me something to think about. I guess he mirrors my passion. That passion of building human capital and invesing in something worthwhile. I am involved in what I’m doing currently because I want to affect the lives of young people, contribute something meaningful to their lives and make them very important people in our society (Malawi and the world at large). I find joy in doing this and I believe there is hope for Africa. That hope fuels my heart to want to do something.

I wish I was the president of Malawi, that is a fanciful wish, everything is possible you know, the one who believes!!! Probably someone will say this is a crazy dream. Let say if the president is to give me audience and ask me to wish for something, Like the president of the world ask little king Solomon, what do you want me to do for you. My wish will be to be given the to change the thinking patterns (paradigm) of the youth of Malawi, and to give them the kind of education that will breed them into the world super heros. To move away from the dependency type of education to independence and freedom in education. Don't get me wrong, I am not an anarchist.

To positively infect them with the virus of prosperity, development, patriotism and think nationally. Infuse them with the can do attitude, drive out laziness, and set the future for them to take. I wish to design the path make the youth of Malawi rich in agriculture, education, technology, innovations, assertiveness. That the youth will stand tall and say to the elderly, don’t worry about us, we have taken hold of our destiny. They will believe in themselves and believe that ‘yes they can do’ and will do it.

They will be principle oriented, becuase we will begin with the fear God and then see how marketable the nation of Malawi will be. I know someone will say I’m going crazy, but this is my wish.

Taking Initiative

I have realised that it is hard for people to break cycles of rigidity and be free to take initiatives. Unless asked to do something, usually, people don't feel free to be creative.
However, in creativity there is freedom. From my experience, I learn more when I become creative. I am able to apply what I have learnt when I begin to play around with the principles and that govern a particular field of study.

I think that to build human capital or my own capital as a human being. I would have to consider being more creative and more endearing in what I have to do. Ignorance may be bliss and could also be very expensive.

Without the initiative to be creative, I cannot grow, because I'll stay in my comfort zone and not broaden my horizon.
